I want to design iPhone apps. Do I have to learn C++ or Java before I learn Objective C?

I am really interested in building iPhone apps, but have no prior programming experience. This is going to be a long term learning experience and hopefully an additional source of income. Do I need to learn another programming language before I attempt to learn Objective-C or can I jump right into an Objective-C programming course?

C++ doesn’t have that much similarities in syntax as Objective C, but it will teach you some programming habits. I recommending learning the basics of programming by using a language such as Python, and then move on to Objective C. Objective C, really, doesn’t need so much prior programming experience, but however, it is recommended if you are not familiar with the object-oriented programming style.

Java, on the other hand, may help you to understand some programming concepts, such as data encapsulation. Really, you don’t need to learn anything before attempting to learn Objective C. Objective C has its own style, so there’s not really anything to learn before your start programming in Objective C.

I’m trying to learn how to make an Iphone app, and I was wondering if objective c is the only programming language I needed to learn.

Obj – C (Cocoa) is the preferred language for apple products. If you are serious about making an iphone app, you need an Apple developers account so you can download the iphone sdk (its free to register and download). Without the sdk, you cannot make any iphone apps. It would also be very beneficial to get Xcode. It contains the software to connect and create the gui and code very easily.

Can you play iPhone apps on your iPod Touch?

I wanna get an ipod touch, but I want to be able to play iphone apps on it, like the t pain app w/ autotune, etc. Whether it’s jailbroken or not, can I play any or all iphone apps on an ipod touch???
If not, is there a way to jailbreak it specifically so I can??

Most of the app store apps can be used on either the iPhone or iTouch.

How can I run the iPhone App Development kit on my pc?

So I tried installing Mac OSX on my pc, and it works, but the network card wont work on the Mac side, so I don’t have internet on the Mac side, and that wont be acceptable cause I will NEED internet. So is there some way to run the iPhone App Development kit on my pc?

short answer.. no.. trust me i have tried…. Mac OS is not compatible in anyway with Windows.. apple haven’t released a pc windows version of the SDK so for now we cant do anything

one idea.. download the setup files on your pc side and then launch them on your mac side.. simple

before the apps update came out for the ipod touch and iphone i had my ipod touch jailbroken. there was this really nice app that was perfect for working out and mowing the lawn and stuff like that. you would play what ever playlist you wanted, go the the home page, select the app and what was great about it was that you could just slide your finger from left to right anywhere across the screen and it would go to the next song. and to turn the volume up and down, you just slide your finger up or down anywhere on the screen. is there anything like this in the itunes app store?

Apps in the app store do not have access to your iPod music library, so no. However, in the 3.0 update for the touch and iPhone, apps will have access to it, and you may see an app like that coming out.

Not sure if this exists – but I would love to have an app for my iPhone that manages the inventory in my fridge and allows me to generate reusasble shopping lists.

I have found quite a useful application called Lists.

It allows you to create a folder of anything you want

Example this might be it

Shopping List
Back to school Items

And then you click on which ever one you want, shopping list in this case and then there are all of the items you need to buy. (You add them) And it would be the same for Back to School Items.

This application is very useful, for anything!

And it costs £0.59

Just have a look, type in lists in the application search, some others will come up as well, have a look!
